Shiatsu
In Japanese: "shi" = fingers and "atsu" = pressure.
At Q Beach, you will receive a Shiatsu treatment using the authentic Japanese techniques developed by the founder of Shiatsu, Tokujiro Namikoshi and his son Toru. In the Shiatsu developed by the Namikoshis, the therapist uses only their hands (thumbs, fingers and palms) to apply carefully judged pressure to various locations on the surface of the body. In a typical treatment, you will experience a firm but gentle pressure that will relax and soothe your body, effectively removing fatigue and anxiety caused by the daily stresses and tensions of life. Shiatsu treatments are not only used for relaxation, but there are specific Shiatsu threatments that have been developed to address various health problems and to help the body the recover from an illness or injury.
Having regular Shiatsu treatments will reduce the pain and soreness of everyday living, reduce the occurance of common ailments and promote a feeling of well-being. You'll be more healthy and will experience an impovement and enjoyment of your everyday and favourite activities!
Anton (Tony) Komar, Shiatsupractor, BSc.
Anton Komar received his Shiatsu training at the Shiatsu Academy Tokyo. where the same Japanese techniques are taught that are currently being practiced in Japan. His main instructor, Kensen Saito, studied Shiatsu at the Japan Shiatsu College and was mentored by the original founder Tokujiro and Toru Namikoshi. He is recognized as one of a few masters practicing and teaching Shiatsu outside of Japan. Anton holds a BSc from the University of Toronto and has spent 25 years as a programmer in the computer graphics and multimedia industry before becoming a shiatsu therapist. He is also currently an instructor at the Shiatsu Academy of Tokyo. Anton has always been an avid participant in various sports, arts and music activities throughout his life.
Prices
Shiatsu treatments are usually performed a futon in a comfortable room with a tatami (padded) floor. Specially designed shiatsu chairs and tables can also be used.
$25 for 15 minutes (chair or table only)
$40 for 30 minutes
$65 for 60 minutes
$90 for 90 minutes

Onsite treatments are available at residences, companies and resorts in the Georgian Bay Area. Please note that a travel fee of $25 in Meaford or $50 for other areas between Collingwood and Owen Sound applies for onsite treatments.

For your first treatment please arrive 10 minutes early to fill in your Health History Form. Wear comfortable loose fitting clothing.
